Haiii! So I know a bunch of you guys are homeschooled. A lot of our blogging community is. And today I want to talk to you all about that!
Next school year, my dream is going to happen. I’m going to be homeschooled. But I don’t know what online school I’m going to do.
Some of my choices are Veritas Press, Liberty University Online Academy, and Alpha Omega Academy.
But we’re looking for more options! This is a where you come in. In the comments (if you are homeschooled) would you mind sharing what online school you do? Or what program you use for homeschool?
Thanks for reading this short little post! Talk to me in the comments. 😉
Ooh, I’m so excited for you! ❤ I use an assortment of stuff: Teaching Textbooks for math, MasterBooks for science (YAY!), Abeka for English (nooooooooooooo), Mystery of History for history (imagine that XD), and a special literature course that no one in the world has ever heard of. XD XD My sister has used the Bob Jones University Press Online courses and she really, really likes them. I think my brother has a course with them too. Hope you enjoy being homeschooled next year!

Ooooh, this is cool!!! I would not like to do online school because it gets so tiring sitting at a computer for 6 hours a day (and then there’s writing and blogging for me on top of that). I prefer using books, and for that I use Teaching Textbooks for math, which uses a computer AND books, and ACE School of Tomorrow PACES for all my other subjects. ACE is a Christian schooling program, too.
🙂 I hope this helps, and good luck!

Cool, thanks Anika! Do your parents have to give you your assignments and grade your work then? Or do those programs have somewhere you can turn them in?

For math, I work on one lesson per day. There are set lessons and lectures you listen to. For the PACES, I decide how much work I do per day. I normally do around 10-15 pages per day. With PACES, I have been able to finish 2 grades in one year because I can choose to work ahead. Everything I use is very independent.

Ok good, I’m looking for independent!

And, also, the software included in the math grades my math, but either I or my parents grade my other subjects.

That’s awesome that you’re going to be homeschooled! I use Sonlight for most of my subjects, and then teaching textbooks for math. Sonlight is mostly reading books (not that many textbooks) and they have notes on the books. Teaching textbooks is a computer program that has automatic grading and it’s pretty good, in my opinion. There’s also something called allinonehomeschool.com (I think that’s the URL) which is an online homeschool thing that I used to do.

Yay! Congrats! Homeschool is awesome! I don’t do online school, instead I use these things called light units. They are from this website: clp.org. Basically you get ten light units per subject for that whole school year…every month you complete one light unit. I use CLP (also known as Christian Light Publications or Christian Light Education) for math and language arts, but they have light units for a bunch of other subjects too! I have used light units for all of the time that I have homeschooled and they are amazing. I use other books for my other subjects though. I’m not sure if you’ll be interested since you were talking about doing online school, but I thought I would let you know about what I use for my school. Lmk if you are curious about anything else! 🙂

You’re going to love being homeschooled! 😀
My family uses My Father’s World, a Christian curriculum and we love it. I also use Math-U-See, Writing Strands, and another book for grammar (I forget what it’s called). 🙂 Have fun and I hope you find the right curriculum/online program!

We’ve done a lot over the years but Sonlight has always been the standby. It’s got so many great books in its curriculum and that alone makes it worth the money. We do use some other stuff though, like the Robinson method and some Switched On Schoolhouse at times. But Sonlight is always – ALWAYS – my absolute favorite.

Congrats! I use easy peasy; it’s free, christian, and not a crazy load of work! It offers basically everything you would or could need! I do use Teaching Text books for math (Alegbra) cause I don’t like easy peasy’s math and I love it! Just search up easy peasy all in one homeschool and you’ll find it! Good luck!

Congrats! It’s super awesome to be homeschooled, we use Switch On Schoolhouse. It’s a really great program, and if you mess up a test or something you can go back and fix it later. Hope this helps!

P.S. I tried to go on your doll blog recently and it said it was now private. I tried to request an invite but I’m still pretty new to my WordPress account, so I just wanted to see if it went through and if I’d get notified by my WordPress or by email? Thank you!

Veritas press is awesome and so is TPS (The potter’s school)! Both of them are Christian and have NO teaching from your parents, which makes them very independent. I don’t know if that’s what you’re looking for.

Hello!
It’s nice to hear that you’re about to start your homeschooling journey. I was unschooled after eighth grade, and it was quite an adventure! Here are a couple things I learned along the way.
If you’re using a curriculum, MAKE SURE IT’S ACCREDITED. I had a friend who was also homeschooled, who later found out that all the work she had done was useless. Be careful about Christian curriculums, in particular.
Have you considered Indiana University Online? I’m finishing up my B.S. in psychology online there, and it’s a great program.
One more thing! If you don’t have an account already, check out Khanacademy.com. This is the best website for learning math, I swear to god.
Good luck on your homeschooling journey!

I use allinonehomeschool.com, and if you are going into high school, you can use allinonehighschool.com. It’s free, and it’s on wordpress! I’ve used it for 3 years so far. The problem with homeschooling is that when you aren’t done school by the end of the year, you sometimes have to go into the summer. But you don’t have to do everything!

This sounds awesome! I’m not at school anymore, though I am thinking of joining the OU (A British distance learning University/ College) later this year. If anyone wants to see my progress and experiences/ advice in upcoming months, please give my blog a follow! I mainly write book reviews, but I’ll definitely discuss the topic of home studying. I’m also very interested to grow a group of like-minded people 🙂 Thanks for reading, peeps!

I was homeschooled and I used the Ronpaulcurriculum.com for high school, except for math, for which I used Saxon Math and then Teaching Textbooks. 🙂
